About Me
For over three decades, Rick Taliesin has captivated audiences around the world with his mesmerizing sleight of hand and awe-inspiring magical performances. Blending spellbinding illusions with the rich lore of Celtic mythology, Rick's shows are a unique fusion of ancient mystery and modern theatrical flair.
Rick's journey into the world of entertainment began early--taking the stage at just four years old in a children's talent contest in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. While it was a singing performance that earned him his first standing ovation, it was magic that would ultimately capture his heart. By the age of 18, Rick had discovered his lifelong passion for the art of illusion. He honed his skills throughout college, studying sleight of hand and the history of magic, and performing at local events, libraries, and private parties. His talents continued to grow during his time at the University of Oxford, where he performed across Europe and further refined his craft. Rick later earned a degree in Radio/Television/Film from the University of Texas at Austin and studied Arthurian Literature at Brasenose College, Oxford--further deepening his connection to myth and storytelling. In addition to his magical career, Rick is a two time Emmy(R) Award-winning television director based in Atlanta, Georgia, with over 25 years of experience working with a major international network. He also served as Co-Executive Producer of the acclaimed documentary Magicians: Life in the Impossible, which had a global release and streamed on Netflix for two years but can now be seen on iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, Youtube, and Google Playstation. Apart from his work in television and film, Rick contributes to the Atlanta theater community serving on the board of directors of the Atlanta Shakespeare Company (2012-2025)
Rick's performances have taken him across nine countries, from intimate venues to grand stages like the Tabernacle in Atlanta and the Lila Cockrell Theatre in San Antonio. In 2011, he debuted at the iconic Las Vegas Wonderground nightclub, earning praise for his dynamic presence and enchanting illusions. His magic has been featured in international television campaigns, seen in over 20 countries, and his 2012 tour of Indonesia brought his artistry to a global audience. A dedicated student of the renowned McBride Magic & Mystery School, Rick trained under legendary magicians Jeff McBride and Eugene Burger. Their mentorship helped shape a performance style that does more than entertain--it inspires wonder. Rick's magic invites audiences to step beyond the boundaries of the everyday and into a world where anything is possible.
Whether dazzling celebrities, consulting for international campaigns, or enchanting theatergoers, Rick Taliesin brings a timeless sense of mystery and awe to every stage he graces.
